Community Bible Church of Northern Westchester (“CBC,” “we,” “us”) cares about your privacy. This policy explains what we collect through our mobile app and website at cbcnw.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to serve our community:
• Account information. When you create an account or sign in, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier from that provider along with your name and email. With Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address that forwards to you.
• Profile details. An optional profile photo (when provided by your social sign-in), your role within the church, and a phone number if you choose to add one.
• Giving and purchases. When you give or buy from our store, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive a record of the transaction (amount, date, items), but we never see or store your full card number.
• Notifications. If you enable push notifications, we store a device push token so we can send you service updates and time-sensitive alerts.
• Contact sharing. The Connect feature lets you share your contact details with other members by generating or scanning a QR code. This exchange is initiated by you; we do not build a directory of these exchanges.
• Location. On supported devices, location permission is used only to detect and connect you to the church Wi-Fi network while you are at our building. We do not track your location in the background.
• Camera. The camera is used to scan a member’s QR code to exchange contact details. Photos are not captured or stored.
• Device and usage data. Basic technical information (device type, app version, and similar) that helps us keep the app reliable and secure.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
• Provide and maintain your account and member access.
• Process gifts and store orders and send receipts.
• Send notifications you’ve enabled, including church updates and urgent alerts.
• Operate features you use, such as Wi-Fi connect and contact sharing.
• Keep our services safe, troubleshoot problems, and improve the experience.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, and only as needed to provide the service:
• Stripe — payment processing for giving and store purchases.
• Apple and Google — sign-in and identity verification when you choose those options.
• Expo, Apple, and Google (Firebase) — delivery of push notifications.
• Cloudflare and Railway — secure website hosting, application hosting, and file storage.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our community.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services and meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations (for example, donation records). When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Your choices and rights
• Access and correction. You may review and update your profile in the app, or contact us to request access to your information.
• Notifications. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings.
• Permissions. You can revoke camera or location access in your device settings; related features will simply stop working.
• Account deletion. You may delete your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing us at the address below. We will process your request promptly, subject to records we must retain by law.
Children’s privacy
Our app and website are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Youth ministry activities are coordinated with parents and guardians. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and secure storage of credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the app or on our website.
